Care & shipping

From our tank to yours.

How we pack and ship live fish, what to do when they arrive, and how to keep them thriving.

Ships Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday

Overnight only, so fish never wait in a depot over the weekend. You pick the ship date in your bag. How shipping works

Packed to travel

Breathable bags inside insulated boxes, with a heat or cold pack depending on the weather.

Live arrival guarantee

Dead on arrival? A photo of the unopened bag within 2 hours of delivery and we replace or refund the fish.

Pickup, too

Local pickup is free, by appointment. Bring an insulated cooler for the ride home.

When they arrive

Acclimate in four steps.

Keep the lights low and take your time — about 30–45 minutes.

Float the bag

Dim the lights. Float the closed bag in your tank for 15 minutes so the temperature matches.

Mix the water

Open the bag and add a little tank water every 5 minutes, three or four times.

Net, don’t pour

Move the fish with a net. Throw the bag water away — never pour it into your tank.

Rest and feed lightly

Leave the lights off for a few hours. Feed a little the next day.

Give them swimming room, plants to rest in and a tight lid — swordtails can jump. A quality flake or micro-pellet with frozen or live foods a few times a week keeps their colour bright.
